Initial content provides an overview of disaster recovery and business continuity and outlines the effect that disasters can have on the organization, their data and systems, and individuals both internal and external to the business.
The focus then shifts to the role of individuals and groups responsible for creating, modifying, and testing the organization’s Business Continuity Disaster Recovery (BCDR) program. It explains broadly the tasks that need to be performed and the consequences should they fail. This leads into the data center’s disaster recovery plan, which begins by explaining who is involved in this process, the steps involved in creating a disaster recovery plan and the attributes that can make it successful. Following this introductory information you will delve into the specifics of the disaster recovery plan, concentrating on details to be considered when creating recovery procedures for critical resources. Finally, you will see some of the other important documentation that needs to be integrated with the disaster recovery plan.
The final course in this curriculum looks at real-life recovery solutions such as Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex (GDPS), and cloud based facilities such as Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS), and Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS).
